Block #8

Block #8 by Graciela
To make this block I followed the same steps as in block #1 to create the block itself but I used the dimension tool this time to add the dimension to each side of the block. I also used the paint bucket tool to make paint the different faces of the shape.

Block #2

Block #2 by Graciela
To make this block I used the same process as in block #1.

Block #1

Block # 1 by Graciela

To make this block I use the rectangle shape and the measuring tape tool to make guides in order to get the correct measurements. I started out by making a big rectangle and pulling it up with the push-pull tool to make the block 3D, and I used the measuring tape tool to make guides and make the block the proper dimensions. Then I used the pencil and guide tools to make cuts and the push pull tool to get the block have this shape. Finally I used the paint bucket tool to add the different colors.

21C- Your Name by Graciela Gonzalez

21C- Your Name by Graciela
To make my name on Google SketchUp I used the circle shape to make the letters like 'C' and
and the rectangle shapes to make letters like'L' and also the pencil tool to make lines to shape the letters and to make the letters 'A'.  Then I used the paint bucket tool to fill each letter with a color and the push-pull tool pull the letters to make them 3D.

21B- 3D Shapes by Graciela Gonzalez

21B- 3D Shapes by Graciela

I made these 3D shapes on Google SketchUp using the rectangle tool for the rectangle, the circle tool for the circle and the pencil tool to make the triangle.  Then I used the push- pull to push back and make the shape 3-dimensional.

21A- Basic Shapes by Graciela Gonzalez

21A- Basic Shapes

I used the rectangle and circle shape tools to create the rectangle and the circle shapes.  Then I used the pencil tool to create and unite 3 lines to makes the triangle. I did this all on Google SketchUp using the front view.

19- USB Drive

I made this USB drive using Adobe Illustrator.  I used different shapes with different colored liner gradients on each to make it look like the real metallic like material that a USB is made of.  For example, I used 6 different stops for the gradient of the pink rectangle with 6 different values.

18- Soft Skin Glow

I started out with this picture of Jessie J.  To add a soft glow to her skin, I used a soft focus effect.  First I converted to smart filters, then I applied the Gaussian blur.  Finally, using the brush tool with the airbrush thumbnail, I painted over the eyes, lips, and contour areas that I wanted to keep in focus.

17- Selection via Quickmask

To whiten Liam's teeth I used quick mask mode with the brush tool to precisely select the area that I wanted to work on.  Then after the area selected appeared with a read translucent mask over it, I choose the color white and used the dodge tool to make his teeth whiter.

16- Smart Filter- Motion Blurring

To make it look like the cab was in motion, I began by creating a smart object layer, and  I applied a motion blur filter to the whole photo.  Then I used the paint brush where I didn't want the filter to be applied, and that's the car.   This is how I used Photoshop to made it look like this cab was captured in motion.

15b: Flag Displacement on Face

To create this flag displacement on my face in this picture I used the displacement tool, put the flag on my face and distorted it with a Displacement Map. I used the Displace filter , which works like a texture map, placing the flag over a grid to create a textured look.  That's how I was able to make the flag look like it was painted on my face.

15a- Displacement Flag

I created this painted effect look by overlaying an flag and distorting it with a Displacement Map. I used the Displace filter which is a filter that requires you to use of a displacement map, which works like a texture map, placing the image over a grid that creates a textured look.  Using these techniques on Photoshop I was able to make the flag look more blended into the wall as if it was painted on it.

14- Halloween Jack-o-Lantern

I made this Jack-o Lantern on Photoshop just using a picture of a pumpkin and extracting it from its original background to insert it in a new layer.  I also did it on a black solid color background to see the effects better. Then I added the layer style inner glow to the pumpkin itself. After I drew in the face designs of the jack-o-lantern, I put them all into 1 layer and added the layer styles; inner shadow, outer glow, inner glow, gradient overlay and stroke to make the cool light gradient effect inside the shapes.  Finally, I added some light reflections outside using the soft round brush tool.

13- Change One Thing Poster

To make this poster mimicking the NYC Food Bank
poster.  I started out by making a blue linear gradient background. I created apple slices coming out of the bag instead of potato chips by using the
texture with layer modes technique I had previously used. Then I merged those layers together and added the blending options outer glow and satin. Finally I added the NYC Food Bank logo to finish the poster.

12- Texture with Layer Modes

To create this design on this dress I did the tutorial for texture with layer modes. I followed step by step the instructions on the tutorial and put the texture layer on top of the dress and selected a layer mode to make it look more natural and blended in like fabric would.

11-Flyer Made with Photoshop

To make this flyer I first opened a 6 x 4 file with 100 resolution.  Then I created a linear gradient in the background. After writing the who, what , when, where, and why on different layers, I followed the tutorials step by step to recreate the these three different font effects; "crazy" text, glass text, and plastic text.
